A pleasure to meet you!
My name is Chris Cisneros, LPC. I specialize in working with individuals and families who have experienced the effects of anxiety, depression, substance use disorder, addiction, relational trauma, and complex trauma. In addition, I am passionate about working with neurodivergent folks who are diagnosed with or are curious about Autism and ADHD.
My approach to therapy involves maintaining a consistent sense of warmth within our therapeutic relationship with the goal of guiding and witnessing the telling and re-telling of your own story in a safe space. Much like a hearth in front of a fireplace, that space only stays warm and safe with a carefully maintained fire. Each session, I help provide compassion and empathy that meets you where you’re at by welcoming difficult emotions, relationship patterns, thoughts, and memories that often fuel things out of control or snuff your fire out completely. From there, we work on empowering you to pick up coping strategies and interpersonal skills as tools that help you tend to that fuel and keep the fire in the fireplace. We then sit back together and reflect on the light that’s shone on your story and the hope found between its pages.
You’ll often hear me say, “If I’m not putting how my client understands their story first, I’m not doing my job.” While traditional talk therapy works for some folks, I also offer other options to make therapy more of a, “choose your own adventure.” I offer walk and talk therapy to explore how movement and nature provide their own unique opportunities for healing and growth. I am also passionate about incorporating art, games, and music into the therapeutic process.
I believe that we relate to all sorts of stories from mythology to popular culture for a reason. Therapy is a wonderful place to explore how certain themes and characters resonate within us as we explore our own. Keep it warm!
